The four configurations of DVDs currently available offer capacities of:

• 4.7GB single-sided single layer

With each layer on the DVD offering 133 minutes of full motion MPEG-2 video. These configurations of DVDs can be played on appropriately coded players.

So what is the difference between duplication and replication?

Duplication - Discs are duplicated from a master using a laser technology offering short lead times and a fast turn around.  This method is appropriate where there are specific deadlines to be met.

Replication - The process of replication involves pressing discs from a glass master which is created from an original master.  Although set up costs are greater than those incurred in duplication, high volume runs can make this process cost effective.
